Italian Army 1970s Roma 75 Olive Drab Safari Jacket — Italian military surplus jacket, archive ref IA1970R75ODSJ

The Italian Army Roma 75 is a 1970s pattern, this example dated 1985, and it is a safari jacket by any other name.

It features two chest pockets and two large hip pockets, a button closure, adjustable button cuffs, a turnover storm collar, an elasticated waistband and shoulder epaulettes, cut in a soft and warm cotton in classic olive drab. Only the Italians would issue this.

Measured flat, it runs 21.5" pit to pit and fits a slim medium figure — the label recommends 89 to 92cm and a height of 165 to 170cm — with sleeve lengths of 23" and a collar to hem of 29 inches.
