Swedish Army 1960s M51 Gas Mask Haversack
SWA1960M51GMH
The Swedish Army M51 haversack was made through the early Cold War, most of them dated in the 1960s, and it was built to carry a gas mask.
It features various clip pockets and pouches inside, each cut to the shape of the component it was meant to hold, a three clip and canvas strap closure and an adjustable, detachable shoulder strap, in 100% cotton canvas in classic olive green. The whole bag is cut around its contents rather than to a rectangle, which is why it looks like nothing else. Issued to the army first and later given out to civilians against the possibility of chemical attack.
It measures roughly 10.5" long, 3" wide and 9.5" high.
