The Romanian People's Army greatcoat is a 1970s pattern, this example dated 1975 and squarely of the communist era.
It features a double breasted button closure with engraved buttons, two flap waist pockets and an interior pocket, a hook and eye collar and shoulder epaulettes, cut in 100% wool over a partial cotton lining. Heavy duty in every sense — this is a coat built for standing outdoors in a Romanian winter for as long as you are told to.
Measured flat, it runs 19" pit to pit and fits a slim medium figure — the label suggests a 36" chest — with sleeve lengths of 24.5" and a collar to hem of 49 inches.
