British Army 1980s No.1 Royal Signals Dress Jacket
BA1980NRSDJ
The British Army No.1 dress jacket is an 1980s pattern, this one made up for the Royal Signals and dated 2019.
It features two chest and two waist pockets, a button closure with a hook and eye at the collar, engraved Royal Signals "staybrite" buttons, Royal Signals collar badges, belt loops, shoulder epaulettes and decorative cuff buttons, cut in 100% wool over an internal lining. Its sergeant wore it well: a gilt thread rank patch, a bullion thread marksman's qualification, and a ribbon bar carrying the Iraq and Afghanistan medals, the latter with rosette, alongside the Queen's Diamond Jubilee 2012 and the Army Long Service and Good Conduct. A whole career on one chest, in solid black.
Measured flat, it runs 21" pit to pit and fits a regular medium figure — the label recommends 108cm although it looks to have been tailored down — with sleeve lengths of 25.5" and a collar to hem of 29 inches.
