British Royal Air Force 1980s Raincoat Trench Coat
BRAF1980RTC
The British Royal Air Force raincoat is an 1980s pattern, this example dated somewhere between 1994 and 2003, and the label inside reads "RAINCOAT, MANS, RAF, ALL RANKS" — which tells you most of what you need to know about how the RAF names things.
It features a double breasted button closure, two waist pockets with internal access, a full belt and shoulder epaulettes, cut in 100% gabardine wool that is wind and shower proof. A proper trench coat in classic Air Force blue, worn over the uniform rather than as part of it.
Measured flat, it runs 24" pit to pit and fits a slim large figure — the label suggests a chest around 108cm — with sleeve lengths of 25" and a collar to hem of 46 inches.
