British Royal Air Force 1980s Aircrew Faux Fur Thermal Base Layer Pullover

The British Royal Air Force aircrew thermal base layer is an 1980s pattern, this example dated 1991.
It features a faux fur lining running the full length of the piece, elasticated cuffs, hem and neck, cut in a modacrylic that is as comfortable as anything in the archive. Grey outside with green hems, built for extreme cold weather and worn directly against the body under flying kit.
Measured flat, it runs 40" along the chest and fits a regular medium figure — the label suggests a 37 to 40" chest — with a shoulder to cuff of 25.5" and a collar to hem of 25 inches.
